Community-driven Progressive Web App (PWA) for real-time reporting of urban incidents and infrastructure issues.
The Challenge
Communities often lack a unified, accessible platform to report and track local issues like infrastructure damage, water leaks, or safety incidents. Information is usually scattered across social media or lost in bureaucratic channels, leaving neighbors uninformed and problems unresolved. The goal was to build a centralized, community-driven tool that empowers people to map out local issues visually, collaborate through updates, and stay informed about their surroundings in real-time.
The Solution
I engineered a fast, mobile-first Progressive Web App (PWA) designed for seamless civic engagement. The frontend, built with React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS, provides a clean, native-like experience on any device. For the backend, I integrated Supabase, leveraging PostgreSQL and PostGIS to handle complex spatial data and location-based queries. By combining interactive Leaflet maps with client-side image compression and strict Row Level Security (RLS) policies, the platform ensures data integrity while offering real-time visibility into community-reported incidents.
